## Prepaid funeral plans

The Alabama Board of Funeral Service regulates preneed contracts. Sellers fund them with insurance, a trust, a surety bond or a letter of credit. Trust money must be sent to the trust within 30 days after the end of the month it was collected. Cancel in writing within 30 days of signing and you get everything back except items already used. After 30 days you can still cancel and get the refund your contract sets out, but earnings go to the seller. If the seller breaks the contract, you get 100% back within 30 days. People applying for or getting SSI, cash assistance or Medicaid can make the contract irrevocable.
