Licenses and how to check them
Coverfolk is not an insurance company. Here is how to check the agents.
Who runs Coverfolk
Coverfolk is a free quote and education service. Coverfolk is not an insurance company and does not sell, issue or underwrite policies. We send your request to the licensed agents Coverfolk works with in 50 states and DC.
How the agents are licensed
Every agent who quotes you must hold a life insurance license from the insurance department of the state you live in. Each licensed agent has a National Producer Number (NPN). Ask the agent for it, then look it up yourself. You can also ask your state insurance department.
Look up an agent's license
The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) has a free search by name or NPN. Look up a license at NIPR.
Make a complaint
If an agent or an insurance company treats you unfairly, your state insurance department takes complaints for free. Tell us too, at hello@coverfolk.com.
How we pay for the site is on how it works. Who we are is on about.
