No general free look period for individual life found in Florida law. On a replacement, if the buyer's guide and policy summary are not given before the first premium is taken, the policy must allow an unconditional refund for at least 10 days (Fla. Admin. Code 69O-151.007(3)(d)).

  • If you are 64 or older, you can name a second person to get a warning before your policy lapses. The insurer must mail the notice at least 21 days before the lapse (Fla. Stat. 627.4555). Some autopay policies are exempt.
  • If an agent tells you to cash in a policy with cash value, Florida requires them to give you written info first, like surrender charges and lost death benefit (Fla. Stat. 627.4553).
